Frontline folks keep over 20 agencies and support programs running year round, snow or shine, to continue the fight against homelessness. Continuing our sponsorship of these awards was a no-brainer!
Work in this sector ripples throughout Calgary, spreading compassion and respect. As stated by the Calgary Homeless Foundation "A sidewalk can take us many places, but at the very least, it should always lead us home - a place where we can lock the door and feel safe."
This fall, we were proud to continue our sponsorship of the Art Smith Awards for the Calgary Homeless Foundation’s Sidewalks to Doorlocks event. The celebration of frontline staff and community leaders in the fight against homelessness brings together countless people from across the sector.
Congratulations once again to the winners of the 2023 awards - Sandra Clarkson from the Calgary Drop In & Rehab Centre Society; Shane Gauthier and the Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary of Calgary’s Elders Lodge; and Nicole Netzband with the Trellis Society. Your selfless work improves the lives of so many people experiencing challenges in our community.
The evening also kicked off the Donate Essential YYC campaign. Last year, they raised $155,000 to purchase extreme weather essentials!
