We think the future of Alberta is bright in the hands of our youth!
This spring, we were excited to support 4-H Mountain Springs as they uplift young Albertans by providing them with some of the necessary tools to safely work with cattle. We often talk about “Choosing Safety” – whether you are on the job, at home, or in the community.
“I like 4-H since it is a great program to help the youth in our area "learn to do by doing" and supports local agriculture. The club used the funds to purchase cattle handling equipment to help make it safer for the club members to work with their steer and heifer project as they get ready for this year’s show and sale. They will be using it for a clipping chute which will help the Club Members work safely with their project.” – Lorne Harty (Waterton Field Foreman)
What is 4-H?
For those of you have not heard of the 4-H Club, it is a youth development program that offers participants a rewarding and adventurous experience by encouraging youth to develop new skills, leadership capabilities and self-confidence. 4-H boasts over 900 clubs in Canada and is volunteer led.
The 4-H's represent the 4 areas that the club intends to help youth discover and develop:
- Head
- Heart
- Hands
- Health
