Bragg Creek Trails Association Doing its Part to Support Local Businesses
Pieridae Supports Funding for New Snow Grooming Vehicle to Help Bring in Tourists
The Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association (GBCTA) builds and maintains over 120km of trails in East Kananaskis Country. Besides being a great resource for hikers, bikers, skiers and others, the trails have a positive impact on the local economy, bringing in roughly $9 million a year in economic impact to Bragg Creek.
The number of people taking advantage of the trails in the West Bragg Creek area has exploded with around 200,000 individuals using them each year. Increased usage has meant the need for increased trail grooming and upgraded equipment to do the work. The Trails Association determined it needed a grooming machine called a Snow Rabbit and Pieridae was more than happy to offer financial help to buy the vehicle.
“It is remarkable that two groups from such diverse sectors - energy and non-motorized trails - can find opportunities for meaningful collaboration on projects of common interest,” said Dr. David Cebuliak.
“On behalf of the GBCTA and its Board of Directors I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for this most generous donation.”
These trails are accessible to cross country skiers at the National Ski Team level and those new to the sport. Winter trails are also used for fat biking, snowshoeing, hiking and horse riding.
