About usOur Mission

To build shareholder value by becoming the first fully integrated, independent liquified natural gas ("LNG") producer in Canada.

The Pieridae Advantage

Pieridae Energy is a publicly traded Canadian corporation based in Calgary, Alberta with offices in Quebec City, Halifax and London, UK. Founded in 2011, we continue to take a thoughtful, prudent and fiscally sound approach toward our overall vision of being Canada’s leading integrated LNG company. The cornerstone of achieving this goal is our signature initiative: the multi-billion Goldboro LNG Project that will produce and ship Canadian natural gas to global markets.

Positioned for Success

We are Canada's only wholly-owned, fully independent, integrated LNG company. Our flagship initiative, the multi-billion Goldboro LNG Project, is shovel-ready. We have acquired low-cost Alberta gas reserves to supply the facility, and will use a low cost of capital to build the LNG terminal and gas production base. The LNG export site in Nova Scotia gives Pieridae convenient access to international markets, half the distance from the U.S. Gulf Coast. And, we maintain strong community, labour and First Nations support.

Our Achievements

  1. Pieridae is developing the multi-billion Goldboro LNG project
  2. All major environmental, import, export and construction permits are in place
  3. The German Government has approved USD $4.5 billion in principle in loan guarantees
  4. Pieridae has signed an export contract with Germany’s Uniper for 20 years
  5. Owned and acquired gas supply enough to fully supply Goldboro’s first train
  6. A benefits agreement has been signed with the Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq
  7. Project labour agreement in place with the 15 trades that make up the Mainland Nova Scotia Trades

Revitalize, Repurpose, Reuse

  • Revitalize Alberta & Atlantic Canada natural gas assets to serve new offshore markets
  • Repurpose and expand Alberta midstream assets, and existing Canadian natural gas pipelines
  • Reuse waste heat from Goldboro facility which is a natural by-product of the liquefaction process

Goldboro LNG

The plant will be built in Nova Scotia, 250 km northeast of Halifax. It would include two liquefaction facilities (or ‘trains’), each producing 4.8 million tonnes of LNG each year. As mentioned, production from the first train has been sold to German utility Uniper on a 20-year binding contract with a 10-year extension. A 2-train facility would need 1.6 Bcf/d of natural gas. Alberta will provide majority of the gas needed for train 1.
