Board of Directors

Myron A. Tétreault — Chairman of the Board of Directors

Mr. Tétreault has been President since 1999 of Calafate Holdings Ltd., a private investment management and venture capital company. Mr. Tétreault serves as the Lead Director of PHX Energy Services Corp. a TSX-listed horizontal and directional drilling company. He is also a co-founder and director of Fitzroy Developments Ltd. (a private real estate company), Northern Vision Development Corp. (a private real estate company) and of Webber Academy Foundation (a non-profit company that operates a private school in Calgary, Alberta). From August 1993 to December 1997, Mr. Tétreault was a corporate and securities lawyer with the law firm Bennett Jones Verchere (now Bennett Jones, LLP).  Mr. Tetreault has over twenty years of experience as a director and officer of numerous companies in the oil & gas and oilfield services sector. Mr. Tétreault obtained his Juris Doctor degree (with distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan in 1992 and his Bachelor of Business Administration degree (cum laude) from the University of Ottawa in 1988. He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and was a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization for 10 years.

Charles Boulanger — Director

Mr. Boulanger is the Chief Executive Officer of Leddartech Inc., a private company with a unique, patented solid-state LiDAR technology.  He is also the President of Moody Management Inc., a private investment firm. Mr. Boulanger has over 30 years of experience in senior management positions in several industrial sectors with companies such as Shell Canada, Irving Oil, GSI Environment and Prolab Technologies. In 2008, he was the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Groupe Unipex SAS, and President of the Active Ingredients and Specialty Chemicals Division of Atrium Innovations (TSX: ATB) from 2004 to 2008. Before joining Atrium, he was the Founder and President of Quebec International (formerly Pôle Quebec Chaudière-Appalaches) further to a partnership with Phenix Capital.  Mr. Boulanger has over fifteen years of experience as a director and officer of numerous companies in the industrial and oil sectors; he currently sits on the boards of Chimie Parachem, Pétrolia and LeddarTech. Mr. Boulanger earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Université Laval in 1981 and graduated from the senior management program at the International Center for Research and Studies in Management (CIREM) in 1990.

Andrew Judson — Director

Since 2018, Mr Judson has been a Director and Senior Advisor to Daytona Power Corp, a private company developing Pumped Hydro Storage projects in the SW United States. Prior thereto, and since 2013, Mr Judson was a Managing Director of Camcor Partners Inc., a Private Equity manager focused on the upstream oil and gas industry in the WCSB. Prior thereto, Mr Judson was a Managing Director with an energy focused boutique investment dealer responsible for the Equity Capital Markets group. Mr Judson advised some of the largest institutional investors in Canada, the United States and Europe on energy investments. Mr Judson also currently serves as a Director of Condor Petroleum, The Fraser Institute, and Winsport.

Kjell Pedersen — Director 

A native of Norway, Mr. Pedersen has 40 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and production in Europe and North America. Mr. Pedersen was Director of Det Norske Oljeselskap AS from 2015 until 2016. Prior thereto, he was Chairman of Aibel AS from April 2013 until March 2015 and CEO of Petoro AS from 2001 until 2013. Petoro is owned by the Norwegian government and manages over 1,000,000 barrels per day on behalf of the people of Norway. He began his career as a drilling engineer with Exxon Mobil and has held various management positions at Esso and ExxonMobil in Norway, the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom.

Charle Gamba — Director 

Mr. Gamba is currently president and chief executive officer of Canacol Energy Ltd. which he founded in 2008. He has held a variety of technical and management roles with major and mid-sized international oil companies, with the majority of his professional career focused on exploration and production in South America. Prior to Canacol, Mr. Gamba was vice president of exploration for Occidental Oil & Gas Company based in Bogota, Colombia. In his eight years with Occidental, he has lived and worked in Ecuador, Qatar, Colombia and the United States, working in a variety of technical and management roles. Mr. Gamba has also worked for Alberta Energy Company in Argentina and Ecuador, and for Canadian Occidental in Indonesia, Australia and Canada. He started his career as a geologist with Imperial Oil in Calgary and holds an MSc and PhD in Geology. 

Management

Alfred Sorensen — Chief Executive Officer and Director

Mr. Sorensen is the CEO of Pieridae Energy Limited since its founding in 2012.  He is a chartered accountant and a leader in the energy industry with over 30 years of Canadian and international experience.  Mr. Sorensen served as the CEO of Canadian Spirit Resources from 2013 to 2015. From 2003 to 2010 Mr. Sorensen was the CEO and a founder of Galveston LNG. Galveston LNG’s Kitimat LNG project was the first new liquefaction facility permitted in North America in 40 years and is now owned by Chevron and Woodside Petroleum. Prior to Galveston LNG, he was President of Duke Energy Europe and before that President at Duke Energy Canada.

Tim de Freitas — Chief Operating Officer and Director

Mr. de Freitas has over 25 years of experience, including 18 years in Canadian and international Foothills. Mr. de Freitas was a co-founder, and CEO of Ikkuma Energy in 2014 and grew that company from 0- 20,000 BOE/d prior to the merger with Pieiridae Energy in late 2018. Before that he was cofounder, Vice President, Exploration, and COO at Manitok Energy until October 2013. He also was COO of Drako Energy and Amarok Energy for several years, and he managed producing and nonproducing assets in Colombia and the western US. Prior to that, he held various technical and managerial rolls at Talisman, Nexen, Canadian Occidental, British Gas and Exxon/Imperial Oil. He completed his BSc, MSc and PhD degrees and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at various Canadian Universities or research institutions.

Yvonne McLeod — SVP, Engineering

Ms. McLeod is a Senior Vice President, Engineering at Pieridae Energy Limited. She was previously employed as a SVP Engineering at Ikkuma Resources Corp, and VP Drilling, Completions & Facilities at Manitok Energy. Ms McLeod graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary and started her Engineering career at ExxonMobil. While at Talisman Energy, Yvonne worked as a technical professional and drilling leader in the Alberta/BC Foothills and internationally in Trinidad, Alaska, Peru and Iraq. She is a Professional Member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta.

Thomas Dawson — SVP, Marketing & Business Development

Mr. Dawson has been active in the energy industry for 30 years. He has been involved in the LNG industry for 15 years, including projects in Canada, Australia and the Middle East. Mr. Dawson was one of the principle founders of Galveston LNG. Galveston LNG’s Kitimat LNG project was the first new liquefaction facility permitted in North America in 40 years and is now owned by Chevron and Woodside Petroleum. He has been involved in trading for natural gas, crude oil, electricity and currency markets with several large energy-trading companies from 1992 to 2002. He has served on utility risk management committees of a number of Canadian energy utilities. Mr. Dawson has also sat on the boards of several Canadian junior oil and gas companies.

Rob Dargewitcz — SVP, Finance & Risk Management

Mr. Dargewitcz brings over 20 years of experience in the Energy sector including 5 years prior to Pieridae as Treasurer of North West Redwater Partnership (NWRP), an entity that built and financed a $10 billion Upgrader/Refinery in Alberta. Prior to NWRP, Rob spent 15 years with Shell Canada where he had several positions over the years including Senior Manager of Mergers, Acquisitions & Commercial Finance, Treasurer, Business Manager - Foothills Gas, Senior Economist Oil Sands, and various other financial positions in all 4 divisions of Shell Canada (Upstream, Downstream, Oil Sands, & Corporate). He is also a retired Army Officer retiring with rank of Captain from the Canadian Armed Forces after having served in the Army for five years post completion of his undergraduate degree in Economics and Commerce at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. Mr. Dargewitcz holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ottawa and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.

Martin Bélanger — SVP, Goldboro LNG

Mr. Bélanger has more than 24 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He began his career as a junior field engineer before progressively moving up the hierarchy to become a senior manager, a position he currently holds. Over the years, he has served several large and small companies, including Talisman Energy, PrimeWest Energy, TAQA NORTH, Laricina Energy and TransCanada Pipelines. He has gained valuable expertise in all facets of engineering, project management, field operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance. Mr. Bélanger has an extensive experience in the management of upstream and downstream oil and gas facilities, as well as gas pipelines. Mr. Bélanger has worked internationally, including in the United Kingdom and the United States. Mr. Bélanger completed his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at the University of Ottawa in 1991 and is an accredited member of the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Alberta.
